Character[]
Ume Sawa (沢 梅 Sawa Ume) is an old and trusted housekeeper for Sakurako Kujō. Sakurako calls her Gran (ばあやさん Baaya-san) and is very tolerant of her. Ume Sawa loves watermelon and loves children. She always has a smile on her face and is very pleasant to be around. And she is quite skilled in knowing people's feelings, when Shōtarō tells her about his deceased grandmother (she died from bone cancer), Ume Sawa can easily find out what is the meaning behind Shōtarō's grandmother request for him to stop by a chick pudding store, so that she can take some pain killers so that he wouldn't see her in pain.
Plot[]
In episode 9 Sakurako Kujō finds out that her back is hurts when she stands up, concern about her health Sakurako suggests that they go to the hospital for a check up and askes that if she is in pain she would tell Sakurako, implying that she cares for Ume Sawa, but Ume Sawa declines saying that she didn't want to tell her, that she has her dignity not wanting Sakurako to worry about her, and she wishes to be Sakurako's Gran until she draws her last breath.
