Sakurako Kujō (九条 櫻子 Kujō Sakurako?) is the titular heroine of the series alongside Shōtarō Tatewaki. She is a trained osteologist with a passionate interest in skeletons and bones, which she collects and displays in her home.

Sakurako is voiced by Ami Koshimizu (radio drama) and Shizuka Itou (anime).

Appearance[]

Sakurako has a long, flowing black hair with hime cut that is shortened to her cheekbones. She has sharp eyes with brown irises, and a beauty mark located under her right eye. She primarily wears a white, button-up, long sleeve shirt with her sleeves always rolled up to her forearms, black pants, and a pair of brown shoes.

Personality[]

Sakurako is a calm yet sarcastic young woman who takes her missions seriously, however she is aloof and straightforward at times yet she expresses kindness to others. Sometimes she may be assertive in certain situations. Additionally, Sakurako has interest towards bones, from animal to human bones, she also dislike it if the bones were not taken care of properly. Sakurako loves eating sweets and has a sweet tooth.

Overview[]

Sakurako is a very beautiful, seductive and intelligent young woman but has difficulty socializing because of her aloof and superior demeanor. Thanks to her knowledge of physiology, her appreciation of detail, and having been mentored by a renowned forensic scientist (her uncle Shitara Kujō), she is an exceptional detective and frequently aids the local prefectural police in their murder investigations. Her fiancé works with the Hokkaido Prefectural Police.

She also likes eating sweets, the more expensive the better.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Sakurako is the daughter of a prominent family and lives alone in a mansion with Ume Sawa (Sakurako's life-long housekeeper). Though little has been revealed about her family, it is known that Sakurako had a little brother named Soutarou who died at a young age. She has a fiancé named Naoe Ariwara, who works with the Hokkaido Prefectural Police.

Shōtarō Tatewaki[]

Though she has a general dislike for interpersonal relationships, she frequently spends time with Shōtarō, a 15 year old local high school student, who jokingly calls himself her "caretaker". She often refers to Shōtarō simply by the Japanese pronoun shōnen (literally, "boy") rather than using his real name—often to his annoyance. This is probably because he had the same name as her passed away younger brother.

Etymology[]

  • The name Sakurako means "cherry tree/cherry-blossom" (櫻) (sakura) and "child" (子) (ko).
  • Sakurako's surname Kujō literally means "ninth street" (九条 or 九條) in Japanese.

Trivia[]

  • In the anime, Sakurako drives a Renault Kangoo II.
  • Sakurako enjoys listening to speed metal while driving.
  • Sakurako had a pet cat named Ulna, whose bones she keeps in her home. Later in the series, she steals a cat skeleton from her deceased high school biology teacher, and it is later revealed to be another cat of hers, named Radius. The two names, Radius and Ulna, are two connecting bones that compose the human forearm. In memory of the two cats and their companionship, Sakurako also assembles Radius' bones and displays the two cats together.
